What is "DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING"

Wikipedia describes "digital scrapbooking" as the creation of a new 2D artwork by re-combining various graphic elements. It is a form of scrapbooking that is done using a personal computer, digital or scanned photos and computer graphics software.”

What are the benefits of digital scrapbooking

It’s tidy – there’s no paper, glitter or glue to clean up after you have finished!

The supplies are reusable – you’ll never run out of letters or your favourite paper ever again!

The supplies are customisable – you can make everything just the colour, size and shape you want it.

It’s easy to make copies of your projects for other people. As the finished project is digital, you can print as many copies you need, in whatever size you need.

It’s easy to change the size and shape of the photos – you don’t have to decide what size photo to print before starting your layout.

Instant shopping – place an order online and download your new supplies straight away!

The pages are flat – you can fit more pages in your album as printed digital scrapbook layouts are so thin in comparison to the more bulky traditional paper pages. You can also have hundreds of layouts printed in a bound coffee-table style book.

And maybe the most important benefit of all – you can undo any mistakes! It’s very freeing to be able to try out new techniques and styles knowing that if you don’t like the finished result you have used up any precious supplies!

Why choose FULL-SIZED

Full-size (FS) kits, elements, templates, alphas, papers and more, come all with a DPI of 300. Which means that the resolution is high enough for them to be printed and look good.

The size of a full size (FS) paper is 3600X3600 pixels or 12X12, and normally over 2000 pixels for elements.

A full size (FS) element and paper can easily be resized to a smaller size as needed.

Finally, a full size (FS) kit, element or paper can also be used for traditional scrapbooking as the formats are very large and can be printed without loosing quality.

What are TAGGER KITS

Tagger kits generally contain elements and papers, just like full-sized scrap kits, but are scaled to 800X800 (or less) with a resolution of 72 dpi (vs. 3600X3600 and 300 dpi for full-size kits). From a preview, they look just like full size digital scrapbooking kits.

Why are they called “tagger”

Here is an answer that really makes sense!

A name is also referred to as a “tag.” You sign your name to something at the end, you tag it. Gangs and graffiti painters spray paint their names onto overpasses and other public property. They are called “taggers.” The people who are making siggies, i.e. signature graphics, are also called taggers because they are making graphics to sign your name to an email or posting.

How are tagger kits used

They are primarily used to create signatures and avatars (i.e. “tags”) for message boards and email. However, they can also be used to create web-only scrapbook pages, digital layouts, banners of all kind, FB timeline covers and small-scale hybrid projects. Because of the low-resolution, printing 8X8 or 12X12 layouts just won’t work.

Suzanne Woolcott is one artist whose designs are popular for this use, particular for custom avatars, but this is just one facet of tags. You’ll also find that semi-nude women are often subjects of tags across the internet, though obviously not so much within digital scrapbooking. Tags are traditional created using Paint Shop Pro (PSP) and there is stock artwork available, called “tubes”. PSP tubes are similar to Photoshop brushes that are used for just stamping one image. Making tags is one avenue by which many have come to digiscrapping.

Why choose tagger-sized

If you’re into making web-only graphics or small printed items, then tagger-sized kits can save you a ton of hard drive space!

What's mean "JUNK JOURNAL"

A junk journal is a handmade book created from many types of paper, often recycled materials like patterned papers, sheet music, envelopes paper bags, maps, brochures and more. The covers are often created from old book cover or cardboard/chipboard bases covered with paper, fabric or paint.  What can be used to create a junk journal is pretty much endless. Some people, like me, create junk journals to look old or vintage and use papers and materials that are coffee or tea-dyed to look old. We also really love to discover things like old ledgers and advertisements to use as well. The older the better. If we can’t find old pages, we can purchase digital kits that we can print out to use in our journals.

A junk journal doesn’t always have to have a vintage feel to it though. Many people enjoy creating them with modern day materials and colorful magazine pages. And of course, for those of us who are artists, it’s always fun to include our own art, either as a mixed media cover or within the pages of the journal.
